Airbus A320 First Officer — Swissair
1999–2002 | Zurich, Switzerland
Selected from international candidates through Swissair’s rigorous 6-month multi-stage pilot selection process. Type-rated on the Airbus A319/320/321 family. At age 26, flew first flight as First Officer — 83 tons, 180 passengers, Zurich to Tunis.
Operated throughout Europe from Zurich base. The most challenging and rewarding chapter — taught the meaning of high-performance teamwork under real stakes. Learned Swiss German, switching effortlessly between English and dialect in a complex operating environment.
September 11, 2001 triggered Swissair’s bankruptcy. Selected as one of 22 laid-off FOs to transition to Crossair (rebranded “Swiss”), but placed at bottom of merged seniority list in a toxic environment. Made the call to leave aviation and pursue an MBA.
CSeries Incubator — Bombardier
2004–2007 | Montreal, Quebec
Recruited into a 300+ person incubator to design and build the CSeries family of aircraft. Joined Aircraft Services department reporting to the VP, crafting aftermarket strategy for the new aircraft.
Led the “Power by the Hour” program — an innovative whole-aircraft service model similar to jet engine maintenance programs. Built a support pricing model based on failure time and cost of every aircraft component, negotiating service levels and costs with all suppliers in advance.
EU Emissions Trading Scheme — Bombardier Business Aircraft
Developed a compliance offering for business aircraft owners facing impending EU ETS regulations.
